He was diagnosed with an 11 pb blood lead level by a finger stick during a routine examination, followed by a venous blood lead level of 5 pb. A lead inspection of the property shortly after the elevated lead level revealed illegal levels of lead paint on many of the interior and exterior surfaces at the child's residence. The defendant landlord failed to respond to any correspondence from plaintiffs' counsel and did not answer the complaint in a timely fashion, but plaintiffs counsel was able to locate insurance coverage by taking a deposition of the keeper of records of the company that provided the mortgage or, the property, as identified at the registry of deeds.
